Julia Goldman, a native Northern Californian, has enjoyed representing clients with their business and employment law needs for over a decade, specializing in assisting small healthcare practitioners including physicians, dentists, optometrists, veterinarians and small to mid-size employers. Julia counsels new graduates on the benefits of written employment agreements when securing associate positions as employees and independent contractors. She negotiates and advises on medical and dental practice ownership structures and the underlying agreements, such as asset purchase agreements, shareholder agreements and partnership agreements. She assists clients with commercial real property transactions and lease agreements from the landlord and tenant perspective. Julia
creates entities for practice and real property ownership, such as corporations and limited liability companies, which offer benefits such as limited personal liability in certain contexts.
Julia serves as an HR advisor for numerous practices and small employers within California, advising on California and federal employment and labor law and she provides employers with urgent HR guidance on situations such as disabilities, disciplinary actions and terminations. She enjoys assisting employers with navigating the complex myriad of employment laws at play when addressing problematic employee situations, to assist the client with reaching their goals.
Dental Societies, Study Groups, Risk Managers and Claims Departments have Julia provide presentations on employment law on a regular basis. Julia is also a frequent lecturer on employment law and business law at UCSF Scholl of Dentistry for undergraduates and residents.
Prior to entering the practice of law, Julia graduated with a Political Science degree and Paralegal Certification from California State University, Chico. She attended California Western School of Law in San Diego, receiving her Juris Doctor. Ms. Goldman enjoys volunteering and pro bono opportunities to serve those less fortunate and give back to the community, a calling that stemmed from an incredible legal internship program she participated in as undergraduate called the Community Legal Information Clinic.
